Helping Children Heal After Trauma

Experiencing abuse or witnessing violence can have lasting effects on a child's emotional, behavioral, and physical well-being. Nashville Children's Alliance provides trauma-focused clinical therapy by referral to help children and families process difficult experiences, build resilience, and move forward with hope.

Our therapists specialize in treating child traumatic stress and provide evidence-based, trauma-informed care tailored to each child's unique needs. Services are typically coordinated through the multidisciplinary team during the investigation process and are guided by standardized assessments and a collaborative treatment plan. Working closely with children and caregivers, our clinical team ensures each family receives personalized support throughout their healing journey. All services are provided at no cost to families.

Our clinical team is trained in multiple evidence-based approaches:

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT)

  • Clinicians also bring specialized training to tailor care based on age, development, and individual clinical needs.

Why Therapy Matters

Children often communicate and process trauma differently than adults. Therapy provides a safe, supportive environment where children can:

✓ Understand and express their feelings
✓ Develop healthy coping skills
✓ Build confidence and resilience
✓ Strengthen relationships with caregivers
✓ Heal from the effects of trauma
