Family Advocacy

A man with glasses, a beard, and tattoos on his arm is smiling and carrying a young girl on his shoulders. The girl is wearing a hooded jacket and looking to the side. Another young boy with blonde hair, gray shirt, and red-striped pants is standing next to them, holding onto the man. They are outdoors in front of a white fence and trees with green leaves, with sunlight creating a bright background.

No Family Should Navigate This Journey Alone

When a child experiences abuse or witnesses violence, the impact extends beyond the child. Caregivers are often left with questions, uncertainty, and the challenge of helping their family heal.

At Nashville Children's Alliance, Family Support Specialists provide guidance, advocacy, and compassionate support every step of the way. From the first visit through the investigative and healing process, our team helps families understand their options, access resources, and move forward with confidence.

What to Expect

For families referred to NCA, our team works to make the experience as comfortable and supportive as possible.

  • Family Support Specialists meet with non-offending caregivers while a child participates in a forensic interview, providing information about NCA services and answering questions.

  • Families receive guidance on the investigative process, available resources, and support options.

  • Advocates help families access therapy, community resources, victim assistance programs, and other services.

  • Support does not end after the interview. Our advocates remain available throughout the healing process and can provide court support when needed.
